BATAVIA, IL- When a passenger is trapped in a damaged vehicle, getting that person out of the car as quickly as possible is the top priority for first responders. However, due to the complexity of today’s vehicles, it is imperative that the first responders on the scene have received specialized training on the high strength steel used in vehicles as well as the intricacy of hybrid vehicle wiring.

On July 17, 2018, Crash Champions, a locally owned auto body repair group, hosted a First Responders Extrication Event at Crash Champions auto body repair Batavia location, 2080 Main Street, Batavia, IL. Over 30 local fire fighters converged on the Batavia location to receive hands-on experience and to learn the extrication techniques needed for the quickest response possible. The event was an eye opening experience for all involved and provided the fire fighters the opportunity to work on vehicles that were actually damaged in a vehicle accident.

Crash Champions would like to give a special thanks to The National Auto Body Council ( for making this event possible. With their help, State Farm Insurance was able to provide four damaged vehicles used for training and Genesis Rescue Systems ( provided the instructor and all of the tools used. Thanks as well to Superior Towing, Enterprise Rent-A-Car and Lexus of Naperville for your support making this event a success.
