- Identify an area of the vehicle that has had a structural component replaced:
- Frame rail
- Rocker panel
- Quarter panel
- Locate the MIG welds on the repair area.
- Grind the weld nuggets down with an 80-grit grinder disk, stopping before grinding into the substrate.
- Use a DA sander or clean and strip wheel to clean off the repair area, to prepare for topcoat.
- Ensure that all burned paint and undercoating has been removed, so that topcoat can be applied.
- After completion, take a photo of the component replaced showing welds dressed and cleaned.
