Dressing/Sealed Welds

  • Identify an area of the vehicle that has had a structural component replaced:
    • Frame rail
    • Rocker panel
    • Quarter panel
  • Locate the MIG welds on the repair area.
  • Grind the weld nuggets down with an 80-grit grinder disk, stopping before grinding into the substrate.
  • Use a DA sander or clean and strip wheel to clean off the repair area, to prepare for topcoat.
  • Ensure that all burned paint and undercoating has been removed, so that topcoat can be applied.
  • After completion, take a photo of the component replaced showing welds dressed and cleaned.
