FAQs

Have questions about ADAS? Here are some common answers to help you better understand how these technologies work and how they can enhance your driving experience.

What is ADAS?

ADAS stands for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems. These features help assist drivers with driving and parking functions while enhancing vehicle safety and reducing human error.

Are ADAS features standard on all vehicles?

+

No. While most ADAS features come standard in newer vehicles, there are a few instances where a vehicle may not have them.

How do ADAS features work?

+

ADAS collects data from sensors, cameras, radar, and sometimes LiDAR to monitor the vehicle's surroundings, then analyzes that data to either alert the driver or take corrective action when necessary.

Can ADAS features be turned off?

+

Yes, most ADAS features can be manually disabled through vehicle settings. Although we recommend they remain on for optimal safety.

Do ADAS features work in all weather conditions?

+

Although ADAS can operate in adverse weather, it's performance may be reduced during heavy rain, snow, or fog, or when sensors and cameras are blocked by dirt, ice, or debris.

When do I need my ADAS calibrated?

+

An ADAS feature must be calibrated if a sensor or camera is disrupted in any way. This includes collisions, windshield or mirror repairs, suspension repairs, and even minor fender benders.

Is ADAS the same as self-driving or autonomous driving?

+

No. ADAS provides assistance, but it is not autonomous. True autonomous vehicles operate without driver input, which is a higher level of automation than ADAS.
