While performing the initial teardown and damage discovery, its important to fully disassemble the vehicle, so that nothing additional will need to be removed when repairs are started.
Full disassembly will ensure that all damage is identified, and the correct parts and labor are documented on the initial estimate.
Evaluate the vehicle you are currently working on, identify damaged items on the vehicle.
Layout the damaged parts, and separate them from the non-damaged parts for R&I.
Work with your Service Advisor to fully document all items needed for repairs, these should include:
Damaged parts
Repair times
Labor to R&I or R&R components
Refinish/blend time
Mechanical operations
ADAS calibrations
Accurately documenting repairs to the vehicle is critical to both a complete repair, as well as a profitable estimate.
Take a photo of your list of line items that are written or parts laid out, to be included in the estimate.
